#5_Things_You_Should_Know_About_Zakat_Al_Fitr
1⃣ #What_is_Zakat_Al_Fitr❓
🌽🍚🍜
👉🏻 It is known as the type of Zakat(charity) that has to be paid before the Eid Ul-Fitr prayer.
👉🏻This Zakat is established mainly to cleanse a Muslim individual from any shortcomings or mischief conducted during the month of Ramadhan.
👉🏻Additionally, Zakat Al-Fitr is given to the poor and needy at the end of the fasting month, Ramadhan, mainly to celebrate the upcoming Eid with happiness and stress-free!
⭕The following hadith also proves that Zakat Al-Fitr is not just a lending hand to the poor and needy but rather a favour we do to ourselves to remove any sins we have committed during Ramadhan.
وَعَنِ اِبْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اَللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ: { فَرَضَ رَسُولُ اَللَّهِ - صلى الله عليه وسلم -زَكَاةَ اَلْفِطْرِ; طُهْرَةً لِلصَّائِمِ مِنَ اَللَّغْوِ, وَالرَّفَثِ, وَطُعْمَةً لِلْمَسَاكِينِ, فَمَنْ أَدَّاهَا قَبْلَ اَلصَّلَاةِ فَهِيَ زَكَاةٌ مَقْبُولَةٌ, وَمَنْ أَدَّاهَا بَعْدَ اَلصَّلَاةِ فَهِيَ صَدَقَةٌ مِنَ اَلصَّدَقَاتِ. }

[رَوَاهُ أَبُو دَاوُدَ, وَابْنُ مَاجَهْ, وَصَحَّحَهُ اَلْحَاكِم ُ] .
🌸Ibn ’Abbas (RAA) narrated, ‘The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) enjoined Zakat-ul-fitr on the one who fasts (i.e. fasted during the month of Ramadan) to purify him from any indecent act or speech and for the purpose of providing food for the needy. It is accepted as Zakah for the person who pays it before the Eid prayer and it is Sadaqah (i.e. voluntary charity) for the person who pays it after the Eid prayer.’

[Related by Abu Dawud and Ibn Majah and Al-Hakim graded it as Sahih].
2⃣ #Who_Should_Pay_Zakat_Al_Fitr❓
👉🏻Zakat Al-Fitr is an obligation upon every Muslim, grown-up or a child regardless of the gender, as long as they have what is sufficient to feed them for a day or longer. The head of the family pays for every single member of family.
Narrated Ibn Umar:
Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) enjoined the payment of one Sa' of dates or one Sa' of barley as Zakat-ul-Fitr on every Muslim slave or free, male or female, young or old, and he ordered that it be paid before the people went out to offer the Id prayer. (One Sa' = 3 Kilograms approx.)
[Sahih al-Bukhar]
3⃣ Who Receives It❓
👉🏻The recipients consist of the following eight group mentioned in Surah al-Tawba, verse 60:
💎"The alms are only for (the poor), and (the needy) and those employed to collect (the funds); and to attract the hearts of those who have been inclined (towards Islam); and to free the captives; and for those in debt; and for Allah’s Cause, and for the wayfarer (a traveler who is cut off from everything); a duty imposed by Allah. And Allah is All-Knower, All-Wise.” [Al-Quran 9:60]
4⃣ #When_should_you_pay_Zakat_Al_Fitr❓
👉🏻You can start giving Zakat Al-Fitr in the last few days of Ramadan and it must be completed before the Eid Ul-Fitr prayers are conducted; failing to do so invalidates your Zakat.
5⃣ #How_to_pay_it❓
👉🏻What is required in the case of zakat al-fitr is to give it in the form of the usual local staple food.
🌸It is narrated that Abu Sa‘eed al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) said: We used to give it at the time of the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), a saa‘ of foodstuff, or a saa‘ of dates, or a saa‘ of barley, or a saa‘ of raisins.
✅Saa' : is four complete scoops as scooped up with two hands.
✅ In modern weights this is equivalent to approximately three kilograms.
✅A number of scholars interpreted “foodstuff” in this hadeeth as referring to wheat; others are of the view is that what is meant is the foodstuff of a region, no matter what it is, whether it is wheat, corn, pearl millet, and so on. This is the correct view, because zakaah is a means by which the rich help the poor, and the Muslim is not required to help with anything other than the staple food of his country.
✅Thus it is clear that zakat al-fitr is to be given in the form of regular food, not cash , and not in the form of any other alternative to cash.
